Ruth Wheeler
Ruth set up Sculpt it Gallery and Studio in 1998 after initial focused work with special needs. Ruth now has a wealth of experience as Director and Sculptor and founder of Sculpt it.
As an established sculptor, Ruth's work is inspired by natural as well as female forms using natural materials especially wood, stone and ceramics.
She works spontaneously with materials so that the piece evolves.
Ruth has completed many large scale public sculptures and many outdoor functional works such as seating in wood and living willow woven sculptures around Surrey and the South East.
Ruth's famous Lido sculpture
Much of her work has been alongside the community helping people of all ages and ability to find their creativity and to achieve big ideas.
Sculpt it has strong local recognition, supported by Waverley Borough Council.
Ruth welcomes private commission work and is hoping to develop her own work as well as her Community Arts pieces.
Ruth has just completed a 20 metre long winding bench through the trees and many other sculptures and mosaic pieces at Woolmer Hill Technical College. She has also completed six sculptural carved poles at Shawfield Primary School in Ash.
New projects include Rodborough Technical College and Ockford Ridge Project in Godalming, (see projects and gallery for more information).
